My advice would be to get a lawyer if it is serious. I forgot what the origionall charges were for. If you run the chance of loosing your license, definately get a lawyer. Otherwise try to plea bargin with the prosecutor. I've also been to court where the prosecutor bargains with everyone without a lawyer outside the courtroom. I've only seen this once, in a city courtroom. Most of the courts I've been to are very small.
I had my last ticket 'ammended' to a parking ticket. Don't ask me how the hell this works...I had a lawyer for that one since it was my 3rd ticket in a year. I din't want to lose my license. The lawyer cost $200, and the parking ticket was $150. I don't know where the hell you can get a parking ticket for that much. Maybe parking in the helicopter landing pad at a hospital (i've done that before).
