First off, thanks to those who offered to lend an extra Aktiv amp. I decided to get rid of them entirely and rewired the speakers in the cabin. I was dreading the day when I had to do this. It took a while rerouting new 12 gauge speaker wire from each speaker to the Alpine cd unit.
I wired the left channel first to get do a sound comparison between my wiring without the Aktiv amp and the other OEM, Aktiv side. In summary I found a better bass response, no pop when I turn my unit off, no faint background noise, and obviously more power. I highly recommend obliterating the Aktiv amps in case you folks are using it with an aftermarket unit.
