Usually only happens with a bad lightening job where it's not balanced correctly (nudge nudge). It is a 8 or 10lb piece of steel spinning at up to 7000 rpm, which can carry quite a wallop. The whole thing isn't gonna come through the firewall, just chunks of it... perhaps a piece the size of a golf ball or something. I've never heard of it happening on a vw, but it DOES happen. Check out dave baker's page on lightened flywheels here: http://members.aol.com/pumaracing/flywheel.htm He talks about breakage towards the end. _____________ List Sponsor: http://www.netsville.com To remove yourself from this list, send mail to [email protected] with 'unsubscribe a2_16v' in the body of your message See us on the web at http://www.a2-16v.com Visit the 16V Homepage at http://www.gti16v.org
