Probably lots cheaper to pick up a used one from a yard... Many salvage places will give a short guarantee: if it doesn't work, bring it back and get another one to try, but often they've run 'em first to know whether it's a worthwhile swap candidate. Hey guys, My brother has a '92 GTI 8v which is in very good condition except for the engine. It has 155,000 on it and is leaking oil from every place it could possibly leak. It is losing compression somewhere. I was wondering what the price range would be for a complete rebuild? Hasa anyone done this latley?
