Ya know... I was replacing my clutch in my '97 GTI VR6 the other day and
noticed that the stock clutch was made by LuK... and not by Sachs. I always
thought the OEM clutch was Sachs, but I guess I was wrong.

Anyways, that damn LuK clutch started slipping at 70k miles in my 02A
tranny.
I went ahead and ordered the Sachs kit with a Velocity Lightened Flywheel
and
finished the job up this morning. I hear the OEM Sachs kit is good for 300
hp
for the VR6. My motor now revs like a Mutha-F*#ka!!! :)

The Luk and Sachs clutch disks and pressure plates look pretty
much the same (springs etc.). It might be different for the 16v's.

Anyways... sorry that I wasn't much help. If I were you, assuming you are
looking
for a nice upgrade, you should check out ACT Clutches (Advanced Clutch
Technology).
I hear they put out some incredible clutches. Stay away from Centerforce
Dual
Friction and Velocity Dual-Fiber crap. They are nice at first, but don't
last nearly as
long.

I am looking for LuK clutch disk. I was told that it much better than
original Sachs (double springs, thicker metal etc.). Do somebody know
where to buy it? I mean places like Velocity, Autotech etc. I called
several local dealers (I am in Boston area) but they carry only Sachs.
