According to the Vortex only the GTI and Jetta GLX that is equipped with the
24V V6 not the VR6 will come with the 6-spd. The VR6 is getting dropped for
2002 and the only automatic will have a 5=spd tiptronic setup. Funny they
should go with the tiptronic thing since both Ford and Diamler(sp?) Chrysler
just finished a study that said that people that bout the tiptronic type
trans used it to show off to friends for the first 3 mo.s of ownership of the
car and then just used it like any other auto. trans.. It is rumored and
only a rumor that VW will bring the 25th anniversary GTI over to america as a
mid model year kick in the sales pants.
