A friend and I acquired a large double-axle trailer with alloy rims that
were frozen to the drums, and a couple of broken leaf springs that we needed
to reach. We, too, tried penetrating oil and large hammers, but the trick
was to slip a small scissors jack behind each wheel and force it off with
that against anything adequately solid. We've now used it on a Ford
full-sized conversion van and several other vehicles, and haven't been
stopped yet! Steady force works wonders on such problems; you may STILL
need to give it the odd love-tap with a sledge, but having the corroded
section under tension will greatly help. HTH!

Subject: stuck rims and difference in rear calipers

so guys and gals i have hit a speed bump in my brake work,

how i remove my rims? they are frozen to the discs, 3 out of the 4!!! i
spent 2 hours oiling, wd-40ing, hammering, pulling. that got 1 off.

and my 2nd questions is, what are the differents between early and late rear
calipers? the change was suppose to be in mid-88, but my 89 (maunfactured
may 88) has old rear calipers. the bentley says the difference is where the
parking cable and fluid line attach, but it looks like the mounts are
different. here is why i ask, i bought my new calipers and painted them,
they are new style like my VIN would indicate.
can i still use them???
if not anyone want to buy a pair of brand new blue late rear calipers?
or what do i have to change to make them work?

TIA
jeremy
