My 85 Scirocco 8v has always gotten around 400 miles out of a tank of gas.
Last
night I almost ran out of gas in Hammond, LA and only had around 325 miles
on
the tank. Not sure why that would be... The only things that I have done
to
the car recently are: (1)replace some old vacuum lines that were cracked,
(2)put
a new "O" ring on the idle adjustment screw (the screw fell out last week).
The car has 278,000 miles on it and it has the CSI fuel system. The O2
sensor
on the exhaust manifold has not been replaced in about 100,000 miles. Oh,
and
I forgot one thing... The shift up light mysteriously started functioning
after
replacing the vacuum lines. I asked what made that light function and was
told
it operated off the "W" terminal on the alternator. Funny thing is, there
is
not even a wire that goes to that terminal???? Anyway, I need suggestions
for
fixes on the mileage thing. Thanks for helping!
