Hey Matthew, have you got a 7 speed transmission? I've got a 5 speed and I only shift it 4 times getting to the top.

This is b/c this allows the turbo to remain pressurized during shifts. When you're running high boost numbers (like my pickup), it makes sense to add a waste gate that dumps into the intake - this way, even with a manual trans, the turbo stays spooled during shifts. Case in point is my pickup vs my buddy's pickup - his is an earlier model automatic, mine is a later model manual. When he pulls away from a stop, he always pulls ahead even though he pulls an additional 7K - 8K lbs b/c he simply plants his foot and waits until the rig gets up to speed, I have to row the shifter 6 times. - --- Fli GLi <[email protected]> wrote: > Speaking of fast autos...A buddy of mine that sells VWs says that > the 1.8T > New Beetle is faster in the auto version than the stick.
