Gentlemen:
    I replaced my engine and transaxle three weekends ago, and now have a
different problem. This time it's a leaking heater core - mist on windshield,
etc. With little or no sense of smell, I'd apparently been poisoning myself
for a week or so before I figured it out. Now, the local stealer (bad
reputation, BTW) claims that this car WAS fixed back in 1993. I've got a
message out to the previous owner, who may not even remember if it was done. I
know a couple of folks said they'd had a second core installed by a dealer -
any documentation? Any thoughts on how to get the stealer to play fair? I
still own the parts car ('87 GTi 16v), plus an '85 8v that was vandalized;
neither of them will ever get a replacement [because neither will ever be
driven again], and it's not a great likelihood that either already did. Ditto
for a friend's two '87 8v's, which ARE on the road. I'm wondering if I need to
suggest that they'll see several repairs under warranty, just so that I can
scavenge the new core they'll need to install... The parts car could be towed
in - "It's getting some other work done right now; figured this would be a good
time to let you repair the heater while you have easy accesss." - for example.
    Suggestions and ideas welcome!  Thanks.
Ron
