I purchased a '91 16v GTi after looking long and hard for a good one. I found my car in San Diego with 82k, perfect charcoal Recaro interior, professionally installed +/- $1000 Alpine stereo, original BBS rims, and everything stock with the exception of a cat-back Scorpian exhaust. I purchased the car for $7,000 2 years ago. I paid a little high for the car, but was getting impatient trying to find a straight, unmodified 16V GTi from '91 or '92.
I would expect that I would pay between $5,000 and $5,500 for my same car today. I was almost tricked into buying a car that was not an original '91, so be careful with what you buy. (where are the original BBS rims for the 16V car- only 8B came stock with teardrops?). Good luck- You won't be disappointed!!
