1.8l 16v engine euro spec = 139hp. 1.8l 16v engine US spec = 123hp. Differences between the two: #1 Hotter intake cam #2 Long tuned euro downpipe (no cat) #3 50mm intake manifold
These three things contributed to the additional 16hp. The cam is good for 7hp, the intake is probably worth another 5-7hp. I've dynoed the euro downpipe vs, header, vs US downpipe and cat vs US downpipe and hollow cat. They were all about equal, with the euro downpipe having a low end torque advantage. The 50mm intakes are floating out there used for $300 including shipping. Worth it? Not sure. It'd be nice to have some 42mm vs 50mm dyno figures tho... -josh --- [email protected] wrote: > I recently removed my 50mm intake manifold so I > could put my EGR valve back > on and pass smog. > What I noticed: with the manifold, in 1st gear, > once the rpms are at > 4000rpms or higher, it's instant wheelspin.
