Second time out this year. I am still in the novice class but out of 26 other novices of various skills and car types, I timed out in 8th. The GTi is faster than I thought it would be. My times were all within .700 second of each other (and no cones thanks) so I am either consistent or just consistently slow. Street tires don't help much. Ran 45psi front and 38 psi rear. Searching for straight starflakes or teardrop rims for race tires at this time (anybody?)
Tuned up the mixture to 2.5mA and timing at about 8deg. Works well for the frequent throttle pounding. Anyone ever build the fuel enrichment device for CIS-E? I think it should be easy to do. Among the sea of Miatas and Porsches one other VW out there, a nice 91+ GLI 16v. He had a euro intake and some cam mods to the basic 2.0. Lots of power and squirrley. VWs are definately the most entertaining to watch out on the track. I have a bilstein/HR sport suspension package sitting in my garage. I am waiting to get new brakes before I do the job. Anyone care to comment on anti-roll bar experiences for this combo? I am thinking FAT rear possibly adjustable Autotech type and stock front (AKA SRS concept). Comments please. BTW where are the archives? Rich Blake
