Hey Marshall, been there, done that.
I had to replace the fuel pump housing on my 91 Jetta GTX because it was
cracked.
This is not an uncommon problem.
I purchased a new fuel pump housing from the dealership and replaced it
myself.
It probably won't be easy because the fuel lines may be rusted on (Canadian
winters can do that).
You may need new fuel lines as well as a rubber mounts to attach the
fuelpump housing to it's chasis, depending on the amount of rust.
I'd recomend changing the fuel filter while you're there.
I took my time replacing it and I spent about 4 hours removing and replacing
the housing.

When you buy a used part like this you never know what you're going to get
so I bought a new one.
You will also need the gasket/o-ring that goes around the fuel pump, and you
may need new screws to mount the pump.

If you have any questions I'll help you as much as I can.

Mark Reda.
