I replaced my rear control arm bushings, rotated 90 degrees from the Bentley
illustrated location, based on feedback from the list. I am quite happy with
this modification. You might check to see if this is what the shop has done,
if so I'd say leave it as is. This seems to allow less play in the rear
A-arm location during steering, without adding much ride harshness.

I had a vw racing shop replace the bushings in the control arms of my 90
jetta 16v. They were installed with no respect to the position of the
kidney shaped cutout. The shop told me it makes no difference how the
bushing are pressed in. He was upset for me questioning him and said,
"sure the Bentley is right, I am wrong... I'll install them any way you
want just send them back." They were designed that way for a reason,
right? Can I can consider the Bentley accurate in this case or would I be
wasting my time sending them back to have the pressed in as shown in the
book?
