Just pull the headliner down from the back (easier on the GTI) and then remove the mounting bolt. Verify that the antenna is getting power when the radio is on. I've had good luck with www.antennaworld.com. They'll also sell just the parts you need versus the whole thing. Jim Blumenfeld 87 gti
