Depends on what you get.  I "rescued" a '90 GLI out of
a junkyard last winter and while it was definately
mechanically neglected, the body was in outstanding
condition and it had never been molested by a
modifier.  No TEPO!  Wiring harness was completely
intact, which I think is the key to a good running
older VW.

I've always felt that the H&R springs didn't have
enough roll stiffness and prefer the feel of the Shine
Racing springs, but I do alot of auto-x and track
days...
