The problem with the stock pressure plates is poor design. The new ones are only single strap pp's and they just can't absorb the energy they need too when you shift hard at high rpms. When the motor is slowed by the tranny(aka releasing the clutch with the engine rpm > input shaft rpm) the straps bend outward and pop the rivets off. If you have more straps they don't bend enough to pop the rivets off. Also if you replace the rivets with a higher grade rivet or bolt(of adequate grade) you eliminate the rivet problem.
