You probably have most of the correct pieces to make this work. Measure your
existing three bolt flange. The small 3 bolt exhaust flange has a 66mm bolt
spread, the large 3 bolt exhaust flange has a 82mm bolt spread.
One option may be for you to get a different catalytic converter with a
large 3 bolt flange which sounds like it would bolt right to the passat
downpipe. (TT has these) You may be able to get a different 3 bolt flange
for the catalytic converter as well.
It depends on your flange and pipe sizes both matching up, hope this helps
some.

I have the following exhaust bits for my 8v GTI:
50mm cat back exhaust from TT.
Dual outlet manifold off of a '90 Jetta (looks like an O2 sensor fitting
on it)
Downpipe from a 2.0l 16v Passat
And what I'm _told_ is a catalytic converter off of a '90 Jetta (no O2
sensor fitting on it)
The guy that sold me the downpipe said it would bolt up to the 50mm
catalyst from the Jetta. It DOESN'T. The 3-bold flange on the cat is too
small to fit on the passat downpipe.
My question is: should they fit together? Two different people have
told me the 50mm cat will bolt to the passat downpipe. Was I misled? Does
anyone have the correct downpipe?? I'm almost tempted to just say f-ckit
and run w/o a cat, but even then I need to find a way to bolt the downpipe
to a straight pipe. I _refuse_ to take this to a muffler shop, as the only
one in town that is willing to work with customer supplied parts is run by
a complete asshole.
TIA,
Pat Austin
