my bracket (actually the top 'arm' that the Alternator connects to) does not
have any 'teeth' on it which makes it very hard to tighten the alternator.
is that how all 2.0L 16V brackets are?  my old 8V GTi had a nice arm with
'teeth' which made it very easy to tighten the alternator and would love to
have the same on my GLi.  

wow, didn't realize i would have that much trouble describing that piece.
hope it makes sense and someone can let me know if it's just my car that's
messed up or if VW decided to make life difficult for all GLi owners.
