Depends what year, but most of the later GLIs 88 or 89 and up were 16v, while the GL was 8v. CLs I believe are canadian market only. Carats are an 8v with lots of power accessories and whizbangs. Available as an automatic only? Laters, Brian -- 1989 GLI Wolfsburg Ed.
