The 92 GTI 8V had an fluid filled one in this position (that leaked). I
replaced it w/the factory solid rubber mount (about $30), supposed to be
heavier duty, and it seems to be holding up fine. There may be other options
available also.
To replace, completely remove the bracket on top of the mount, remove the
bolt from the front motor mount and jack up the engine/tranny for enough
clearance to remove the old and slip the new mount in place.

Subject: [a2-16v-list] Engine Mounts: Rubber or Poly???
Date: Wed, 14 May 2003 16:54:53 -0400
Hey Guys,
I think I may have tracked down that sound I mentionted last week.
I think the engine mount on the tranny is on it's way out.
Does anyone have oppinions on which style mount or manufacturer I should
use
to replace the mount?
Are there any tricks or tips you guys may have for replacing the mount?
Later,
Mark Reda.
