If anyone wants good cheap web hosting, for the 16v list or anything
else, check out monkeyhost.com. I pay $10/mo or thereabouts (its so
little that I don't remember) for three domains, about a gigabyte of
disk space (when I've asked for more, they just give it to me w/o upping
the price), unlimited traffic, up to 60 email addresses, pop/imap mail
serving, unix shell account, MySQL database access, decent spam
filtering and excellent (!!!!!) customer service. TrioHost is run by
the same guys, is ever-so-slightly more expensive and seemed to be
geared towards a more corporate audience. They even
registered/purchased the domains for me, set up my database, fixed some
broken php and perl scripts that I wanted to install, etc.
I've also got 16v list archives going back to about two weeks after the
list was initially started. '97 maybe? I wonder how hard it'd be to
make them google searchable.

Anyone who wants to get a web page up, advertise, do whatever, is welcome.
I host the mail.a2-16v.com list. If you are interested in getting a web
page together email me and I'll help you get started. I can host it and
give you access to a server to develop, test, etc.
If someone could contact all the admins for other various web pages and
have them add a link to the list on their page that would help. Do a
search on google for 16v vw and start asking those people. I did this
before, but the list name had changed. Now that I have the name set to
something that will last indefinitely we could use some advertisement. I
just don't have time to do much these days. Here are some of the pages
and links I have on file.
Someone want to contact them and ask to have the list added to their
pages? Ask them to post this somewhere obvious -

Don't get me wrong, the A2-16V list is great but we have lost a lot of
members over the past year or so.
And without a website we won't be attracting any new members.
That's the truth. I wouldn't even know how to find this list again if I
got unsubscribed today. Since I bought my VW in 99, the list address
has changed a few times and I've just been automatically resubbed by the
list owner/moderator (thanks, btw!).
www.a2-16v.com shows up on a google search for "vw a2 16v", but there is
no content on the main page, just "coming soon..." Couldn't there at
least be list subscription info there for the meantime?

Brian
