Here is my distant understnading of Alex.  
He is only using the car at the track on the weekend.  HP matters there.
The head can be retapped as good as new (probably better)
I've never known Alex to do anything partially.  He seems to be an all or 
nothing type of guy.

Alex,  if you don't need the car right away, repair it right.  If you need it 
right away, throw the other head on while you repair the head.

Considering he has another head on the garage floor
that isn't damaged at all and can be installed for
nothing, I think that'd be the cheapest route to take.

I never suggested he get another head ported.  He made
it sound like he had two choices, try to get the head
fixed, or install the extra one he had.

If I were in his shoes, I'd install the one on the
garage floor.  If the fix isn't done well, or somehow
fails, the entire motor can be lunched.  Call me
crazy, but I'd rather give up a few horsies in the
name of reliability.
