Am I going to need to get a puller? I did a search and found some posts about A3's and from what they described, it sounded more like what I am dealing with then what the Bentley described for the A2

I was (and still am) having starting issues with my 91 Passat. I have to wiggle the harness connected to the ignition switch while holding the key in the start position to get the car to start. After a few emails back and forth between some of you (thanks), we narrowed it down to the ignition switch. I put the job off for a while because my license has been suspended for 3 months, but now I will be getting it back in 10 days so I figured I better get cracking on this problem. So I ordered a new ignition switch. I just came in the mail yesterday. I wanted to make sure it was the ignition switch before I took everything apart so I unhooked the harness and plugged it into the new ignition switched. Put the key in, turned it, and it fired right up. Now here comes the problem...how do I get the damn thing out?? I have the Bentley Manual for the A2. It shows an exploded view of the steering column and directions on how to disassemble it. Do you think this is much different then the B3 steering column? Any help would be appreciated. I attached the exploded view. _______________________________________________ a2-16v-list mailing list [email protected] http://mail.a2-16v.com/mailman/listinfo/a2-16v-list For list archives, see listinfo link above.
