I saved this info from an earlier post on this list. After viewing the file, it looks like a very good resource for this specific issue.

There is a write-up specifically for this procedure that you can access online. Go to NHTSA.com, vehicle and equipment information. Search NHTSA's Recall Campaigns database for recall number: 92V050000. It will give a description of the recall and at the bottom there is an option to research documents on this recall. This will bring you to a document link. Open the document (you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader). Pages 14 through 24 walk you step by step through the process.

im looking to replace the heater core on my 91 gli. i got the lower part of
the dash out and cant figure out how to get to the heater core. if u could
help with some advice that would be greatly appreciated. i have a hanes
manual and it said to remove the instrument panel so i did (tac&speed) did
not help. i also removed the radio and the heater switches this  also did
not help. i also removed the glove box, no help. i tried to remove the upper
part of dash but cant release by windsheild.front of dash loose, but caught
in back, cant find screws.
