Sounds like a timing issue... It might be a good idea to test the car
with a strobe gun at the flywheel and check the marks

The car: 2.0 16V Jetta running CIS-E Motronic.

Well, I've done the preliminary stuff...
-Replaced O2 sensor with a new BOSCH one
-Set fuel mixture to 2.5mA at idle
-Replaced temp sensor to computer on side of head
-Set ignition timing to 6deg advanced
-Replaced all vacuum hose connectors
-No rips in the intake boots
-Tightened the idle screws on the Throttle Body

My idle is at 900-1000RPM.
I've also noticed that when I decelerate it almost feels like an auto, I
don't get the engine braking (or deceleration) that I should be getting.

I think the RPMs should drop faster when I blip the throttle.

I can't figure it out.
Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Mark.
