There are some good testing routines in the Bentley. I've found reading it laborious but worth the time. It's helped me to understand the many different systems and their inter-relationships.
Sounds to me that you may have some electrical issues. I would begin with some simple contact cleaner and work my way thru the engine bay cleaning all of the contacts and grounds.
