That's what I figured. Can runs too well for replace brain syndrome.
What adds to the confusion is Bentley mentions 4-4-4-4 as no codes in memory
which is what I would expect as "end of codes".

I wouldn't worry too much about that 1-1-1-1 as it's probably the "end of
codes" sequence.

Hey all,
91 GLI 2.0l 16v, GIAC chip'd.
Started the car friday, only to see it begin idling around 1100...hum,
thats
a new quirk! Normally spot on at 1000.
After driving about 15 miles, stopped, restarted, still idling around
1100,
but then began to hunt for an idle position between 1000 and 1200.
Hasn't
done the hunt thing again, just that once, but idle is still high.
Following Bentley, read DIAG code 4431(Idle Air Stabilizer valve
faulty),
second code 1111(replace ECU...ugh!). Checked continuity across the
terminals of the valve(2 wire version), good....but found only 6v across
the
wire side of the connector, Bentley says should be 12v(~battery).
What to check next to further diagnos the low voltage?
Car's running fine other than the idle.
l8r,
Greg
