The only reason I can sell my '87 is that it will go to a close friend, who already has the 2l 16v engine that will go into it; and I have my '89 to drive. I will get to see it still being driven and in a known good VW home. By the way, I bought an '84 GTi engine from the same friend to go into the '84 8v GTi that I acquired: what comes around, goes around. And vice versa.

I have thoughts occasionaly about selling my 91' gli, but i know that if i
do, im going to regret it and miss the thing terribly. so i hang onto it
every year... even though sometimes its in my best interest to sell it.

now that I officially went broke, sold almost everything i had, and moved
from oregon to florida, the GLi is all i have left of my 'past life'..
making it even harder to ever think of parting with. :)

Subject: [a2-16v-list] It's an addiction!

So, spring is here, and I was finally ready to put a few bucks into the
GLI and put it up for sale. The can just had it's 15th birthday and
it's just not economical for me to have 2 cars right now.

The weather has been nice here in Pittsburgh the past few days, so,
after work today I figured I'd take the good old 16v out for a spin. I
was a bit worried, as I haven't driven it since September. So, I get in
the car and turn the key...it fires right up. I drive it around the
block a few times...to get the rest off of the rotors and stop for some
fresh gas. Then I head for the twisty back roads.

I forgot how much fun this car was to drive. It's way more responsive
(throttle, steering, braking, just overall) than my 02 1.8T. It took
every curve, every down shift, every up shift....damn it why won't this
car let me get rid of it?!?!

Just figured I'd share my little story with you guys. The weather is
getting nice and I figured some of you might be going through the same
thing I am in the next few weeks.
