I'm STILL racing a 16v GTi even though I know it'll never be
competitive with the CRX or 240SX - why? Well, either I'm crazy
(which hasn't been proven definitively) or I'm so buried in VW parts
that I can't bring myself to switch. I'd love to switch to a Miata
but the VW has been relatively reliable and it's a tank compared to
most of the other cars in ITA.
Even though I no longer drive a 16v on a daily basis, I'm forever on
the lookout for a nice 16v GTi that hasn't been "modified" but in my
price bracket, they just don't exist. Oh well, I'll just stick with
the 3.6l V8 that Audi based "loosely" on the 1.8l 16v (same head on
one bank, a mirror image on the other, identical bore and stroke AND
all the VW electrical maladies) and suffer.
