If you are gong to auto x the car alot I would suggest going with Konis. I have used them on my 89 with neuspeed lowering springs and front and rear swaybars from neuspeed when I started solo. It worked ok since the ride was not too harsh for daily driving.
Since then I tried the 500lb Shine racing springs in the front Koni struts and 350lb coil over set up on the Koni rears(both single adjustable). This gave better turn in but a harsher ride. The next setup in my cars suspension revolution was to try no rear bar and 650lb rear springs(per recommendation from Wenzel/Mannix). The ride got really harsh(still daily driver). The off the shelf Konis could hardly control the springs so I sent them off to Truechoice to have them revalved. But the handling in solo improved. A little entry understeer but throttle would bring it to almost neutral(Quaiffe helped alot too). Now my current setup is double adjustable in the front with coilovers and 450lb spring, rears same as last set up. My driving skills have yet to explore what this setup can do, but I feel alot more confident that the cars going to do what I ask it to(also learning new tire). My suggestion would be to know what YOU want the car to do. Here is the SPAM part. I am selling the Koni single adjustable struts and the Shine 500lb springs(fits in stock perches). The Konis are less than 5000 miles on them and dampen very well with the Shine springs). $150 for struts and $50 for the springs(OBO) R. Makino 89 GTi 16v
