I'm still on here, too. Car (89 GTi 16v) awaits new clutch and time to do the work. Have made arrangements with a friend to buy my '87 GTi 16V; we've got a 2-liter 16v from a Passat waiting to be installed. I've also got an '83 or '84 8v GTi waiting for me to get time to install an identical replacement engine. This was a California car, is sound & solid, though with faded upholstery & etc. Engine makes horrible noise (doesn't fire up); I'll do a tear-down when it's out. Bought it with mechanical problems already present (so did previous owner, but he never had knowledge to do an engine swap, nor access to one to use, nor tools. I do.). Ron
