When you say "OEM lighter calipers", do you mean aluminum 1J0 615 423/424 D calipers from a Mk 4?
If so, are they truly a bolt on, or do they require adapter brackets?

I recently put a set of Akebono pads on the rear with new OEM lighter
calipers. Very minimal dust produced. They do well for daily driving, no
track experience.

I've been using mintex red box pads on my Jetta and have been happy
with the performance. Are there other pads you all can recommend
trying? My rear pads need to be replaced but the front could go
another 15k I bet.
