The former A2VR6.com website listed the front radiator support from an SLC as a necessary component to execute a "factory correct" VR6 conversion. (the rear subframe that Scott mentioned was also deemed necessary to accomodate the wider Plus suspension) However, my question focused on the front radiator support.
Is the VR6 front mount adaptable to our 16Vs? I actually have an SLC radiator support and compared to the 16V radiator support it is noticeably more robust in construction. However, I don't have the VR6 engine mount bracket so I've never compared it to a conventional 16V mount. The bolt holes in the center of the radiator support are different when compared to the 4 cyl radiator support. In the same fashion as the VR6 strut bearings, would a VR6 front mount (If adaptable) provide any additional durability? -Les -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]]On Behalf Of Scott Napier Sent: Sunday, November 11, 2007 7:08 PM To: 'a2-16v a2-16v' Subject: Re: [a2-16v-list] Parts4vws.com and Parts4Audis.com - A2FrontMotorMount Bracket It was not the cross member that was used it was the sub frame, and it was done so that you could make the swap easier and to allow you to use the "plus" suspension. _______________________________________________ a2-16v-list mailing list [email protected] http://mail.a2-16v.com/mailman/listinfo/a2-16v-list For list archives, see listinfo link above.
