I chipped my 2001 1.8T at 120K miles and my niece is driving it with 200K miles on it. running great and no issues with the engine. I agree with the diverter valve. I second this. A stage 1 APR should not over tax the engine. The one thing to watch out for on the 18t is the diverter valve. The stock valve is a weak link and on a chipped car that much more so. My 1.8t was never chipped and I replaced the valve 4 times in 100k.
