how high can i safely rev the 16v on stock valve components? I have my soft rev limit set to 7000 and hard limit at 7500 at the moment. With the tt cams and the turbo at 6psi it really feels strong above 6k, where it used to feel kind of flat on the stock cams.
Most of the time when driving hard I'll shift around 6k naturally, but if I really tell myself to keep the gas pedal down it pulls to 7k nicely. The bottom end of the engine has forged pistons and scat rods so that doesn't worry me. I wonder if the 230k miles on the valve springs is something to worry about. I didn't check spring tension when the rebuild was done - don't think the shop checked anyhow. its great to drive the old vw again... i forgot that some vw guys go out of their way to wave and flash headlights.
