Three possibilities to start with: First, what is called "Continuous
Grommet" or Caterpillar Grommet", which is sort of similar tosome kinds
of automobile weatherstripping: it would snap over the inside edge of
the opening. Electronics places sell it; you might find short pieces
at, say, Radio Shack. Google "Caterpillar Grommet" or "Continuous
Grommet" to see some of the offerings. The second is a molded plastic
grommet used for cable management, typically where a bundle needs to
pass though a desk top. Heres a 4" x 2" rectangle; I'm sure that a wide
variety of sizes exist, though it may take time to find them:

Third idea: look up "Stake Pocket Covers" (they're for pickup truck
beds, to fill the tie-down holes), and figure on opening up the center
to suit your hitch. Typical:

Anyone have a trailer hitch on an a2 Jetta? I purchased one the other day :

I planned to use it to tow a small trailer I used to pull around with
an 09 Ford Focus, which I just sold. I didn't realize that this hitch
would require me to make a ~2" square cutout in the plastic below the
bumper on the Jetta.
If I go the cutout route I thought it would look better with some kind
of surrounding trim piece... kind of like the look I've seen on cars
with exhausts coming out in the middle of painted lower bumper. I
can't find the right words to search for.
Basically instead of a rough cut hole I wanted something aluminum,
stainless, plastic, carbon fiber that I could secure to the bumper.
Any ideas what to look for?
