Long time no post. But still here, and still have the '92 GTI 16V. She's in
perfect condition, except that odd knocking sound I'd been hearing for the past
few thousand miles, finally manifested itself on the freeway a few weeks back.
As in "KA BOOM" clanka clanka clanka. The tow truck driver found a wrist
pin laying in the engine compartment, and pointed out the hole in the back of
the block.
So, I am in desperate need of a 9A bottom end, hopefully lowish mileage, with
known good oil pressure. I really want a Euro Spec 2192 cc bottom end,
or the next smaller displacement offering, but immediate current finances won't
allow such frivolity. I need transportation ASAP, as I don't have any
vehicles that are currently functional. I'll even take a whole engine, if
necessary, as long as it has good compression and oil pressure. Will pay
shipping
to Nor Cal (Saratoga, CA now).
