I found an amusing picture which was recently posted by "Interesting
Engineering"
It was a disassembled car and all of its pieces displayed to demonstrate the
complexity of a typical automobile. But what I quickly recognized is that it
was a photograph of an 1985-92 four door MK2 Golf.
The comments demonstrated readers astonishment at the myriad of parts necessary
to create an automobile. However, my first reaction was not what the original
poster had intended. My first thought was that this photograph is not complex
at all when compared to a contemporary automobile. There is no ABS, No SRS,
Traction control, air bags, HID lights, computers, no keyless entry, and likely
no power windows or locks.

Amusingly, I managed to identify virtually every part in the picture. And I'm
willing to bet anyone of us on this list could assemble the entire collection
of parts and drive that thing away.

for a glimpse of the picture, I've posted it in my Google Photo albums which
can be found here.
