For Germany I need 60 tiles right now. I used --max-nodes=800000. The
resulting .img files are between 5.3 MB and 21 MB. As fewer tiles mean
better routing performance I'd like to keep the tile number as low as possible.
I get by on Germany with --max-nodes=1,300,000, max .img size is from
9-26MB. It really depends on the style (35 tiles)
Countries like the Netherlands or Denmark need much much lower numbers -
450,000 however (don't ask me why). For some other countries I need
around 1,000,000.
I also don't think that a predefined list will get us along very far.
Data and styles differ too much. While one style might crap out here,
another style craps out there because of different preferences.
