On some units address search seems to work if --index is used. I think I can recall someone reporting successful address search, And I've seen my own maps address search working on an e-trex, But that was long ago when I knew someone with an e-trex willing to try my map;) On my Nuvi 200W and Garmin mobile XT it does not work. In such cases the option --road-name-pois provides a workaround that enables searching for road names under points of interest. I rely on this heavily, because a router that does not allow street search is very ..ehh akward? ..rather useless? .. has limited use.
