Trying to build a map of Portugal and Spain, I encountered an error with a
particular lake in portugal with a very complex outline. I tried it with

The .osm file should be split into smaller pieces first.
According to the above message, you should split input data in smaller
tiles. I build map of Spain+Portugal regularly and don't have this
problem. Attached is my current areas.list. Note I remove corine data
with osmosis before split.
