ok, so I try to reduce my areas to garmin-grid. In most cases it shouldn't be a 
problem at all.

that splitter divides polygons into rectangles going from west to east.

To avoid that, you should try to reduce the number of distinct longitude 
values in the nodes of the polygons, esp. in areas that are overlapping.
Example:
You have two nodes with longitude 96.876374
and two others with 96.42895.
If you change them all to 96.855469 which lies
on the grid, result is better.
