In order to provide the computing power for the Virgo experiment EGO manages a wide system of computing and data centre resources including 160TB of disk storage, 400 CPUs, PCs and workstations for data analysis. The job duties will correspond to the level of experience and skills and will include validation and installation of the linux platform baseline, problem solving and systems tuning, maintenance of the systems, management of the procurements in relation with the resellers. Experience We need a UNIX system administrator, with multi-year and strong experience in the management of UNIX systems (mainly Linux) in a networked environment. The skills will include the configuration and installation of the Linux kernel and the use of shell or perl scripting. Experience of work in a scientific environment or computing/data centres and in the management of the following items will be a plus: • computing farms • AIX and GPFS • LynxOS, Linux Real Time Education University degree in Computer Science or other relevant fields or equivalent formation/experience is required. Fluency in the English language is required.
