Please note that the secondment will be governed by the Commission
decision C(2008)6866 of 12/11/2008 laying down rules on the secondment
to the Commission of national experts to the Commission. This decision

2.Main areas of responsibility :
Unit A3 develops Information and Network Security Policies in close
cooperation with other Commission services and with the European
Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA). The unit is currently
developing, in close cooperation with stakeholders, a collaborative
European approach to modernise and strengthen Network and Information
Security Policy, as reflected in President Barroso's policy guidelines
for the Commission 2009-2014. Furthermore, the unit will implement the
actions set out in the Communication on Critical Information
Infrastructure Protection ("Protecting Europe from large scale
cyber-attacks and disruptions: enhancing preparedness, security and
resilience").
The SNEs main tasks (under the supervision of a Commission official)
would be:
- Define, implement and follow up the policy developments in the area
of network and information security (including Internet) and propose
policy and legal options in the view of achieving EC objectives.
- Brief management on policy and legal matters in particular
concerning security related ICT opportunities and threats and draft
briefing notes and speeches on specific policy issues.
- Organise external events (such as expert meetings, workshops, ...)
and internal events (such as reflection group meetings, workshops,
etc.).
- Compile MS and/ or experts comments and integrate them into working
papers or official documents.
- Contribute to drafting of policy and legal documents
(communications, recommendations, white and green papers on security
related issues).
- Perform analysis of ICT from social, economical, technical and legal
perspectives against the background of its security functionality.
3.Main qualifications :
We are looking for an engineer or lawyer with a professional
experience of 5 years in the Network and Information Security
field. Legal experience, experience in R&D and/or in public
administration would be an asset.
4.Languages:
The SNE must have a knowledge of two Community languages.
For the execution of these duties the knowledge of English is
required. The knowledge of French is recommended
