on slackware-10.2, file-4.17's libmagic is deployed without *.mgc binary
compiled databases and mldonkey at some point (not right away nor after some
download) fail to load the plain version of /etc/file/magic
Your crash also happens while opening /etc/file/magic, you also
miss magic.mgc. These files are not provided by the Slackware
package, you could circumvent this error by compiling GNU file yourself.
