Follow-up Comment #10, bug #21172 (project mldonkey):
So, I compiled with --enable-debug and ran mlnet in gdb. The segfault occurs
in gdb as

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.

0x000000000050498d in camlDonkeyProtoCom__fun_1250 ()
a "list" command gives:
1 in rtld.c
Concerning the log file, I set the verbosity as you suggested but there is
nothing more than a long list of message like the following ones:
