Yup, with the XML file things work perfectly! I'm testing the hell out of it at the moment. :D With my new video PC that actually is fun :). All works realtime... As for the color maps, at first glance, I think rainbow or heat should be default. But I'm going to make a nice video which will show the current status and post it to DIYD.
