Hi,

I have managed to setup MLT but it wasn't easy and it's far from perfect.
I run ubuntu and wanted to check which Ubuntu version is best to use for
MLT.

If I install using "apt-get install mlt" how do I get the bindings to work?
Does this method install all the prerequisites or should I manually install
them before installing this way?

What is the best way to install?

What I'd like to do is to write a "playout server" based on ruby / python.
This will get requests to play files/clips at various times as per schedule
(maintained else-where). I would like to incorporate all sorts of
functionality e.g. displaying channel logos, ticker / scroll text,
transitions and mixing (when switching clips).

At this point I need to understand the API and have not found much
documentation on the API methods / interfaces. Please send a link / point
me in the right direction.

Rgz,
